What Can You Do Now to Get Your Car Ready for Fall?

Are you ready for fall? Better yet, is your car ready for fall? Here are some tips from Louisville Automotive Shop to help you to make sure your car is ready for the next few months.

Check Your Tires

Your tires are extremely important as the seasons start to change. Now that weather is getting cooler, you might start to notice more fluctuation in the air pressure. Check all of the tires to make sure that they’ve got the proper pressure. If you’re not sure what the right pressure level is, there’s a sticker inside the driver’s side door that should let you know. That same information is also in your car’s owner’s manual.

Consider New Tires, Too

You may want to look at getting new tires, too. If they’re at the point where you’re not sure if it’s time or not, you probably are closer to needing new ones than you think. It’s a good idea to get new tires now so that you’re not in a position where you’re having to make that decision in emergency mode after you’ve been stranded somewhere.

Look at Your Antifreeze Levels

Engine coolant also functions as antifreeze, so as it starts to get cooler out it is more and more important that you have your antifreeze levels topped up. If it’s been a while since your antifreeze has been flushed and refilled, that’s an even better idea. Afterward, you’ll be ready for everything that cooler weather can throw your way.

Check Your Battery, Heater, and Lights

There’s more to check, though. Does your heater still work? It’s better to find that out now than later when it’s freezing out. You may also want to take the time to check your battery really quickly. Does it look okay? How old is it? Double-check your oil levels and get an oil change if it’s been a while. You should also grab a friend to help you to test all of your lights, including brake lights and bright headlights. That will help to make sure that you’re fully prepared for fall.
